The 1x1080p Display
Computers these days are capable of so much, and every day we push their capabilities further. But what about all of that space behind the frontier?
So I created a screen that in one dimension takes full advantage of the modern HD display, but in the other dimension is as low-res as low-res gets. A screen that has a vertical resolution of 1080 pixels and a horizontal resolution of 1 pixel.
For me, perhaps the most interesting result of creating this display is how clearly faces come across. Not only is it possible to recognize that the screen is displaying a face, but if you show a capture of your face to a loved one, they have a very good chance of being able to recognize you.
This display has 0.052% as much information as a full HD display, but this can still be enough for those who love you.
